Favorite Game

One of my favorite games right now is the board game Apples to Apples. I recently started playing it last year when my Uncle brought it over for Thanksgiving. I usually don’t have the patience for board games, but Apples to Apples is simple, and to my surprise very entertaining. The game is played by the judge selecting one card from one deck and dealing cards from the other deck to the players. The object of the game is for the players to select the best card from their hand to match the word on the card selected by the judge. While the concept of this game makes for hilarious pairings, and lots of laughs, my favorite part is that brings everyone together. My family and I spent hours sitting around the table playing it last Thanksgiving, and I have even convinced my friends to start playing it as well.

Reality

The dictionary defines reality as the quality or state of being real.  But how do we know if something is real or not? For some people, real is something that is present to the senses or measurable. For others, a belief is strong enough to determine if something is real or not. Reality is different for everyone because it is based on an individuals perception of the world. We all live different lives and have certain events happen to us that change the way we view things. One man's reality could be another mans fantasy. I believe reality is whatever we choose to be true in this world.

Rhetoric Adds

Sego was a diet drink that was popular in the 1960's. This add is directed mainly towards middle aged women.  The picture it uses is a young couple on their honeymoon. The women is thin and the man has his arm around her. This picture along with the text next to it suggests the audience think back to their honeymoon, and how fit they were at that time. Then underlined are the words "Would he think so now." This touches on womens insecurities, especially about their body image and whether their "man" will be pleased with it. However, it suggests that men will not be pleased unless the women is as thin as she was on her honeymoon. Under the visual there is also more text that says, "Wouldn't you like to look 10 years younger? Try Sego...for success!" This is meant to imply to women that the thinner you are the younger you look. Also that to be successful one must be thin. This Sego add uses both visual and textual appeals to try and sell their product.
